The "Flying Illini" of 1988-89 will forever be one of Illini Nation's favorite basketball teams. Illinois advanced all the way to the NCAA Tournament's Final Four. The starting lineup for the nation's No. 3 ranked team (31-5) typically included Kenny Battle, Lowell Hamilton, Nick Anderson, Kendall Gill and Stephen Bardo. Coming off the bench were Marcus Liberty, Larry Smith, P.J. Bowman, Ervin Small and Andy Kaufmann.
