The 1983-84 Illini men's basketball team won the University of Illinois' first Big Ten championship in 21 years, finishing with a 26-5 record and ranked No. 6 in the AP poll. The starting lineup typically included Efrem Winters, Doug Altenberger, George Montgomery, Bruce Douglas and Quinn Richardson. Other vital members of the team included Scott Meents, Tom Schafer and Tony Wysinger.
